Frequently Asked Questions
What rifle and shotgun stocks does the BulletStrap fit?
The BulletStrap is made from stretchable neoprene that flexes to accommodate most standard rifle and shotgun buttstock sizes and shapes. It has been tested on bolt-action rifles, semi-automatic rifles, and pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns. If your stock has an unusually large thumbhole, adjustable cheekpiece, or non-standard shape, the flexible neoprene will generally still accommodate it — but contact us at info@theoutdoorstoreza.co.za if you are unsure.
How many rounds does the BulletStrap hold?
The BulletStrap typically holds 4–6 rounds depending on the calibre and cartridge size. Smaller calibres such as .243 and .308 will generally fit more rounds, while larger calibres such as .375 H&H or .458 may fit fewer. The elastic loops are designed to hold rounds securely without them rattling loose during movement in the field.
Will the BulletStrap damage my rifle stock's finish?
No — the soft neoprene interior of the BulletStrap is designed to sit against your stock without scratching, marking, or damaging the finish. The wrap holds firmly without gripping aggressively enough to cause compression marks, even on synthetic and laminate stocks. If you have a particularly delicate or custom stock finish, we recommend testing a small area first.
Is the BulletStrap weather resistant?
Yes — neoprene is inherently resistant to moisture, making the BulletStrap suitable for use in rain, humid conditions, and the dusty, hot environments typical of South African hunting and outdoor use. The rounds are held securely in individual loops that prevent moisture from pooling around the cartridges. After use in wet conditions, simply wipe the BulletStrap down and allow to air dry.
Will the BulletStrap slip or move during use?
No — the BulletStrap is designed to stretch firmly over the buttstock and grip through the natural friction and compression of the neoprene material. Once fitted correctly it stays in place during walking, crawling, mounting the rifle, and taking shots. If you find it moving, stretch it slightly tighter on the stock for a more secure fit.
How do I fit and remove the BulletStrap?
Fitting the BulletStrap is simple — stretch it over the toe of the buttstock and slide it up to your preferred position on the stock. To remove, slide it back down and off the stock. No tools, straps, or clips are required. The BulletStrap can be repositioned in seconds and moved between rifles if needed.

What South Africans Are Saying
Ordering, Shipping & Returns
Can I use the BulletStrap on a shotgun?
Yes — the BulletStrap's stretchable neoprene accommodates most shotgun buttstocks including pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns. The round loops are sized to hold standard shotgun shells securely. It works particularly well for driven bird shoots, waterfowl hunting, and game farm bird hunts where quick access to additional shells is essential.
Will the BulletStrap affect my cheek weld or rifle mount?
No — the BulletStrap is designed to sit on the lower portion of the buttstock away from the cheekpiece and comb. It has a low-profile design that does not interfere with your cheek weld, eye alignment with the scope, or your natural rifle mount. Once fitted in the correct position it becomes part of the rifle and you'll stop noticing it's there within a few shots.
Is it safe to carry live rounds in the BulletStrap?
The BulletStrap holds rounds in individual elastic loops that keep each cartridge secure and separated. The rounds are held with the bullet facing away from the shooter in the standard orientation. Always follow safe firearm handling practices — the BulletStrap is designed for the secure, organised carry of unfired cartridges only, not loaded or primed components. Always transport and handle firearms and ammunition in accordance with South African law.
Can I use the BulletStrap in a hunting hide or blind?
Yes — the BulletStrap's low-profile, matte neoprene finish produces no shine or reflection that could spook game. It adds no noise or rattle to your setup, making it ideal for use in a hide, blind, or any situation where silence and concealment are important. The rounds are held firmly in place so there is no movement or noise when you reposition or shift in the hide.
